When coding for Arduino devices I refer to code C in VS-Code more than in VS or Arduino IDE. Even I use the standard C Extension for Arduino there is not a good Serial Port Monitor then I decide to make my own.
Installation
It is published in Microsoft Store. Install it by this way.
Usage
Easy. Conect your device to a Serial Port (USB) and wait for the application for showing the COM you got. Otherwise change it by your self in the dropdown. If you use some baud different to 9600 then change it. The log extract will start automatticly.
Nice functions
Search.
You have a search posibility for writing any text that can be found in all the logs.
Data and time
Show or hide the date each log got in and even watch the duration since start by setting up it in the settings.
Stop and Play
Pause the Port and start it again when you want.
Coming later
Auto recognitiong for data
Then if in the logs is coming a standard meassuring data it will give the possibility to see it in a chart directly.

A desktop application for reading logs coming in a Serial Port (USB). Mostly thinking in Arduino devices.
